NorthPark Center Expansion

Location Dallas, Texas Client NorthPark Center
An expansion of one of America’s oldest enclosed shopping malls brings new life to an already thriving center.

If there’s one thing Dallas knows, it’s great shopping. And with its clean lines and art-focused interior, NorthPark Center is one of Dallas’ most recognized retail centers. In the Spring of 2006, it opened its doors to a new $170-million retail expansion with Pacheco Koch providing all civil engineering services. The addition connected Neiman Marcus and Foley’s through a new three-level, 900,000-square-foot mall expansion featuring a flagship Nordstrom department store, two restaurants, a dining terrace food court, specialty retail shops, and a third-floor, 16-screen AMC Theatre, all creating a continuous public mall loop through the entire complex. Civil engineering services for the project included all standard items such as dimensional control, grading, drainage, utilities, erosion control, etc. Several major water main and sanitary sewer main relocations, with numerous easement abandonments, were required, due to the U-shaped configuration of the center changing to a rectangle.
