City of Greenville Safe Routes to School
The Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS) is a federally funded program administered through the Texas Department of Transportation to provide funding for the development of local plans and infrastructure that encourage children to walk and bicycle to school.
In the City of Greenville’s first phase of program development, Pacheco Koch assisted the City in the administration of a non-infrastructure grant for use in developing the local SRTS Plan. Pacheco Koch performed engineering assessments of the existing conditions around four local elementary schools, and at the end of the non-infrastructure grant term, compiled the administrative data and the engineering assessment into a final SRTS Plan, which was submitted by the City to TxDOT. Following the filing of the SRTS Plan with TxDOT, the City was awarded four infrastructure grants for sidewalk construction projects, for which Pacheco Koch was selected to provide engineering and surveying services.
