New Parkland Hospital
Pacheco Koch provided civil engineering services for the new Parkland 1.7M SF full service acute care hospital, 380,000 SF outpatient center, 275,000 SF office center, and parking for approximately 6,000 vehicles.
The project is located on approximately 65 acres east of Harry Hines and North of Medical District Drive. Pacheco Koch wa tasked with being the lead civil engineering team on the project, coordinating between all members of the architect’s design team, the construction managers for the project, and three other civil engineering firms on the design of drainage, franchise utility relocations and design, and various other parts of the project. Involvement in the project began at the master planning phase and lasted through completion of construction.
Design scope included the design of all of the water, wastewater, paving and grading aspects of the project and the coordinating with various public entities including Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), various departments at the City of Dallas, and multiple franchise utility companies for design and plan approvals. Design modification were required to be made along adjacent roadways to add dedicated turn lanes, revise median openings, and modify storm sewer layout due to conflicts at proposed driveway locations. Sustainable design practices were used throughout the project. Land Surveying services were also included in the scope in the form of platting, easement abandonment and dedication, and public right-of-way abandonment and dedication.
