Hunterwood Park Stream Assessment & Design

Location Coppell , Texas Year 2017 Client City of Coppell
One problem for the City of Coppell proves to be the chance for innovative new designs in civil engineering

Pacheco Koch worked with the City of Coppell to develop bank stabilization and channel improvements within Hunterwood Park to repair severe stream erosion while maintaining the natural integrity of the park. The bank stabilization improvements included bendway weirs to direct flow back to the center of the channel, 700 linear feet of gabion and coir log toe with slope stabilization using live staking and plantings, a 6-foot gabion drop structure and numerous gabion grade control structures. The improvements also included the extension of a 48-inch storm sewer line and outfall to the flowline of the creek. Additionally, 2,200 linear feet of soft-surface trail and low-water crossing were designed to provide better neighborhood connectivity to the park.
